Barguna district is a part of the Barisal division. It is a district to the South-Western side of the country. Before it was sub-division and in the next time, it has became the district. North of this district is located Jhalokathi, Barisal, Pirojpur district. Patuakhali district is positioned to the east side of it. The Bay of Bengal is to the western side in Barguna. The Payra River, Bishkhali River and the Baleshwar River are the main river of Barguna.

It was established in 1984. Its area is 1831.31Sq Kilometers. Total populations are 902,465. Among these people male is 49.88% and Females is 50.12%. Man of the four religion live here. There are about Muslim 91.01%, Hindu 8.69%, Christian 0.04%, Buddhist 0.24% and others 0.02% and is available educational institution for the students this district. There are 13 colleges and many other secondary school, junior schools, government, non-government primary school as well as madrasas. Literacy rate are about 40.14% and male 45.15%, female 35.05%.
This district is average annual temperature maximum 33.3°c. Annual rainfall is 2506 mm. There are many cultural organizations are here for the public entertainment.
