Dhaka district is located in central Bangladesh. It is a part of Dhaka division and this district is a capital of Bangladesh. It is the economic, educational, administration, political and cultural center as a whole in this country. It was established in 1772. Its area is 1463.60 sq km. North of this district is situated Gazipur and Tangail district, Munshiganj and Rajbari district to the south, Narayanganj district to the east and Manikganj district to the west. There are lived many people in here. The Muslims, Buddhist, Hindu and Christian among them of are also lived in this district. Islam is the majority population in Dhaka. Here is many mosque of the Muslim. For this, this district is called City of Mosque. Besides, temple, churches and Buddhist temple are in here.

It is commercial heart of Bangladesh

Most of the people are involved to employ in the business and industries. Besides, other profession is hawkers, peddlers, small shops, rickshaws transport, roadside vendors and stalls employ. The main business places of the city include Motijheel, Panthapath and Gulshan. Besides, major lakes (beels) are situated in Dhaka district as Belai, Saldaher, Labandaher, Churain, Damsharan and Kiranjir Beel.

Moreover, This district has many tourist and traditional spots such as Lalbagh Fort and the tomb of Bibi Pari, Ahsan Manjil, Jatiyo Smriti Soudho, Star mosque, Satmasjid, National Mjuseum, Bara Katra, Chhota Katra and the tomb of Bibi Champa, Bahadur Shah Park, Shorawardi Uddan, Romna park, Dhaka Zoo, Curzon Hall, Bangladesh National Museum, Central Shahid Minar, Rose Garden, National Parlament House, National Science and technology Museum etc. Tourist’s spots are very attractive.
