Jamalpur district is in Dhaka division of Bangladesh. This district is bounded by Mymensingh and Sherpur on the east, Jamuna River and Bogra district on the west, Sherpur and Kurigram on the north and Tangail on the south. The Named of this district has traditional history. A religion preacher in the named of Hazrat Shah Jamal (R) was come from Yemen in this district during the kingdom of emperor Akbar of Dhilli. Next time he becomes religious leader. So, according to name of Hazrat Shah Jamal was fixed name of this district. This district is declared by 20 number district of Bangladesh on 26 December 1978. It has an area of 53.28 sq km. The Muslims, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu are lived in here. Other ethnic are also lived in this district.
