Jhalokati District is the South-Western side of the country.

Jhalokati district is a district of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Barisal division. Barisal district is on the north and east side of Jhalokati. Barguna is on the south and Pirojpur as well as Lohagara Upazila to the west side in this district. The Bishkhali, Sugandha, Dhannsiri, Gabkhan, Bamanda, Bazitpur and the Jangalia rivers are the main river of Jhalokati.

17 Muslims were killed in an encounter with the British army at Kulkati in Jhalokati during the British rule. To getting the steering facilities the East India Company, French and the Dutch attracted this region. These countries established their trade centers in phases. Many was called it ‘second Kolkata’. Rezaul karim of the village Besain Khan (Jhalokhati Sadar Upazila) produced by the Manik Bahini consisting of 24 members to oppose the Pakistan army. It was collaboration on 16 June 1971 and with that time local Razakars captured and killed them. First time it was established in 1972 and in the next time it was also developed in 1984. Its area is 758.06 Sq Kilometers.

The Muslims, Buddhist, Hindu and Christian people of religion live here. There are available educational institution for the students in this district. This district is many developed in every educational institution for good result. Many tourist spots are in this district like- Sujabad Kellah, remnants of the Ghosal Rajbari, Old Municipal Building, Civil Court Building, Surichora Jami Mosque and the Madabar Mosque are the ancient place of this district. Civil court Building was built in 1781.
