Rangpur district information
Rangpur district is in northern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Rangpur division. It is also known as composed division. This town is the divisional headquarter. It was established in 1984. It is surrounded by Nilphamari district on the north, Gaibandha district on the south, Kurigram district on the east and Dinajpur district on the west. The Muslims, Buddhist, Hindu and Christian are lived in this district.

Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Medical College, Carmichael College, Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur Technical School and College, Rangpur Zilla School, Rangpur Cadet College, Rangpur Govt. College, Begum Rokeya College, Begum Commercial Institute, Polytechnic institute, Vocational institute, High school, government primary school, junior high school are special introduced for education. Besides, Begum Rokeya University of among them is the only university in this district. Then Rangpur Medical College is the only medical college and it is one of the major government medical colleges. Results of every educational institution are very good and literacy rate is very fine. Agriculture activities are main profession in Rangpur district. As well, commerce, laborer, service, transport and others are main work. The soil of this district is mainly alluvial soil of the Teesta River basin. But soil is so fertile. Main crops are paddy, wheat, sugar, jute etc and main fruits are mango, litchi, black berry, papaya etc. Main exports are paddy, wheat and jute. Its economical sector is very good. There are many cottage industries in this district for example weaving, bamboo work, goldsmith, blacksmith, potteries, wood work etc. Besides, manufacturing industries are sugar mill, rice mill, ice factory, oil mill, cold storage etc.
Some rivers are in this district such as Teesta, Brahmoputro, Jamuna, Dharola, Ghagot, Dhudkumar, Manas, Topa, Dhijan etc.

The Rangpur district is many tourist spots as Tajhat, a former “Rajbari” or Zamidar’s palace, the birthplace of Begum Rokeya in Pairabondh, Tajbari Museum, Town Hall, Teesta Barrage, Bhinno Jogot park, Chicli Vata, Rangpur Zoo, Raipur Zamindar palace etc. Besides, this towns around are ever green. The town is known as Green town for its beautiful garden that known as Green Park. This town is very attractive. For this, foreigners are visit to see this beautiful scenery. Different tourists are come to look at this place.
