Barisal Division is located in the south-central part

Barisal division is one of the administrative divisions of Bangladesh. It has an area of 13,644.85 square kilometers and a population of 8,147,000 (2011 Census). It consists of 6 districts and 38 Upazilla. This division is bounded by Dhaka division on the north, Khulna division on the west, Chittagong division on the east and the Bay of Bengal on the south. The major cities of this division is Barisal city.

The Barisal city lies on the river. This division is still an important rice producing area of the country. The major educational institutes in Barisal are Sher-e Bangla Medical College and Cadet College. It is linked with Dhaka by river (steamer service) and road (bus service). This division are main rivers the Agunmukha, Arial Khan, Baleshwar, Bishkhali, Burishwar, Haringhata, Katcha, Kirtankhola, Paira and Tentulia.

This division are visiting places like Kuakata, Durga Sagor Dighi and Rakhaine Buddhist Temple. The Kuakata beach is the main tourist spot in the division. Kuakata is one of the two sea beaches in South Asia where both sunrise and sunset at sea can be seen. Another visiting place is Durga sagar Dighi that a number of migratory birds arrive every winter.

Barisal division districts: Barguna district, Barisal district, Bhola district, Jhalokati district, Patuakhali district and Pirojpur district (Total 6 district in Barisal Division).
