Khulna Division where is located Sundarbans

One of the seven division of Bangladesh is Khulna division. It is situated in the south-west of the country. This division has an area of 22,285 square kilometers and a population of 15,563,000 (2011 Census). The division headquarters is Khulna city in Khulna district. This division shares a border with the Indian state of west Bengal to the west, the Dhaka division and Barisal division to the east and the Rajshahi division to the west. This division is a part of the Ganges River delta. Another rivers embrace the Madhumati river, the Bhairob river and the Kopotokkho river. It is made up marshland, numerous river and dense jungle.

It is famous for archeological and historical places like Sundarbans (Beautiful forest), Shait Gambuj Mosque, Singar Mosque, Nine Domed Mosque, Ronvijoypur Mosque, Khan Jahan Ali Tomb, Khodla Math Temple and Sagardari in Jessore district is the birthplace of the poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta.
